A Few Good Links...

Did you ever design something that just go too big? Well, that's what happened to me. When I first came up with the (highly unoriginal) idea of A Few Good Links, I thought it would just be a few links near the bottom of my homepage. After shifting a few links in and out of "the list", I decided to give these links a page of their own.

This page also houses the links provided by some of my friends. Since Jose's Famous Links, Erin's World, and Ben Who? have fallen into neglect, I decided to move the links on …

Quixote

A report from Spanish class from my time at Hamilton High School. Reproduced here from my original web site. Presented in (bad) Spanish.

Digital Camera Support Listing

For those of you wondering which digital camera to buy for your Linux computer, I have created a list of digital cameras supported under Linux, including the name of the software package and a URL where the software may be obtained. It is not yet complete, but I hope that it will help out many of you.

(Editor's note: this helpful table has been removed due to being dangerously out-of-date.)

BIA Is Offline

Did anyone notice that the official BIA website has been removed? Well, it seems that the Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has finally been taken to court over their mismanagement of "their" trust fund for Individual Indian Monies. During the investigation, it was found that the computer system set up to manage this trust fund (TAAMS) was horribly insecure -- so much so that court investigators could modify and even create new trust data! As a result, the Department of the Interior was ordered to disconnect from the Internet this system, and any other systems …

Alex's Doctor Who Page

Welcome to Alex's Doctor Who Page, serving all Doctor Who fans, but especially those from the Fort Wayne area. I have Doctor Who Books as well as the rec.arts.drwho FAQ in its entirety.

What is Doctor Who?

Doctor Who is a British science-fiction program that ran from 1963 to 1989 on BBC television. The program was put on hiatus in 1989, and later came back in the form of a made-for-TV movie on FOX in 1996, but unfortunately a new series did not materialize. However, there has been a continuing series of books where the Doctor and his …

Native Resource Page Started

I have just recently added a Potawatomi Native Resources page to this site. Right now, it contains a few little gems of information about our traditional language as well as some links. Hopefully, I will have much much more information to add to this site in the future!

Bode'wadmi Language Resources

Currently, I have only a few things to share, two of them from my father, ShupShe (Howard L. La Hurreau). They are here as a gift to all Nishnabe people.

Hopefully someday I will know the native language well enough to create a few lists of my own... The …

Where did you go?

Some of the denizens of rec.arts.drwho may be wondering what happened to me. INN happened to me. For some reason, the new version of INN can't properly handle a system crash -- like when I use my buggy video capture software. After a crash, it corrupts all of its databases, requiring a lengthy and tedious recovery process. I haven't had the time necessary to maintain it, so I just shut it off. (Along with my Usenet access, you understand.) My best choice right now is to downgrade to an older, more stable, version. Unfortunately, I don't really have the …

The Home of AlexDW Returns

After moving on campus at Tri-State University, I broke off relations with my old Internet service provider. (I tried to negotiate a lowered fee for hosting-only -- they didn't call me back.) I have been looking for a good web host for quite a while now, but haven't really been able to afford the ones I've found (not on my college-student budget). Until now, that is. Your Site Virtual Server Solutions is currently hosting my site and my new domain for $80/year. Of course, if for some reason I get Slashdotted, I get to pay $3.00/GB for the …

Braxiatel

Braxiatel is the new computer that I have built. It has a 433MHz (overclocked to 445MHz or 888.01 BogoMIPS) Intel Celeron processor and 128MB of RAM. (Yes, I do know about the problems that Intel had with earlier versions of the Celeron processor, but this newer model has worked fine for me, except for when I try to overclock it to 500MHz+.) It is running Debian GNU/Linux 2.3 using the Linux 2.2.15 kernel. I have found this to be fairly stable, as the only real problems I've had were all my fault <big grin>. I'm …

Alex Reviews Bad Movies: Uncle Sam (1996)

Ratings (out of ten): Acting - 1 (was that acting or dress rehearsal?) SFX - 2 (the blood managed to look real a few times) Plot - 0 (No plot, no continuity) Scare Factor - 2 (Proven to scare small fleas) Deaths Per Minute - REALLY BLOODY LOW!

After seeing this movie, I have to say it was probably one of the funniest, most pathetic movies I have ever seen. In fact, I'm not even sure that I actually saw it. It was so bad that I'm almost certain it was just a hallucination. (Too much Mountain Dew can do that to you...) This film …
